A complete model for IOT application

Internet of Things (IoT) is collection of connected physical items accessible to Internet. IoT enables interconnection of things that can be monitored and handled remotely through wireless infrastructure. This automated device monitoring reduces human interaction and improves productivity. Over the years the importance of IoT is increasing in all fields and is expected to have over 30 billion devices connected to the Internet by 2020. IoT applications are developed based on specific models. In this paper we present a comparative analysis of various models used by industry for developing IoT applications. We compare the techniques used by the models/design patents and discuss on their uniqueness and shortcomings. To the best of our knowledge none of the studied models/patents is complete in all respect so that any kind of IoT application can fit into it. We identify the missing critical requirements in existing models and propose an abstract model for developing IOT application.
