Challenges in Automotive Memory Solutions

Automotive ICs have traditionally been considered as part of a Hi-Reliability class of semiconductor products, that lagged the leading-edge technology products. The focus on digital consumer/industrial products is changing, with new emphasis on automotive IC products driven by interest in technologies for making cars connected and self- driving. To achieve the goals of safe and secure cars memory can't be viewed in isolation, but as an integral part of a complex electronic system. This paper will highlight specific challenges related to automotive IC/memory solution development and deployment starting from the process technology to memory design, SoC design, packaging and finally testing to assure quality and reliability.
