A 2D lens antenna for high gain and low cross polarization level in W-band

In this paper, a planar cycloid dipole shaped periodic metamaterial lens structure is proposed to reduce the cross polarization level of an EH horn antenna operating in W-band (70-110 GHz) by -27 dB. The unit cell of the proposed metamaterial structure is chosen in such a way that, it offer low loss and dispersion suitable for satellite communication and millimetre wave radar research. The structure realizes the near zero values of Permeability (μ), Permittivity (ε) and Refractive Index (η). We adopt NRW method to retrieve the medium parameters. We used commercially available ANSYS HFSS Software for design, simulation and optimization of the proposed metamaterial structure.
