Effects of position uncertainty on passive multistatic SAR resolution measures

We investigate the effects of transmitter position uncertainty on passive multistatic synthetic aperture radar image resolution measures. We define measures of the multistatic resolution ellipse (MRE) and characterize variability of the MRE as a function of transmitter position error and bistatic angles. In particular, effective multistatic resolution area (EMRA), semi-major and semi-minor axis length, linear eccentricity, eccentricity, and tilt angle measures of the ellipse are considered. Results provide statistical characterization of the MRE for stochastic emitter selection and support the use of EMRA as a multistatic performance prediction measure.
