A more exact linear FMCW radar signal model for simultaneous range-velocity estimation

A Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave radar signal model is presented. The model demonstrates the underlying principle for the simultaneous measurement of range and velocity typically employed in automotive applications. Model validation against radar measurements are presented. The model is used to demonstrate phenomena such as the influence of target velocity on radar backscatter and the range-velocity uncertainty principle.
