Enhanced magneto-optical properties of ion beam mlxed Co/Pt multilayered films

Co/Pt multilayered films have been widely investigated as high-density magneto-optical (MO) recording media due to their large perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, large polar Kerr rotation angle at short wavelength, and high corrosion resistance [l-4]. Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy indispensable to the commercialization of the films, which is correlated with the polar MO properties, can be obtained only below a CO sublayer thickness of a few monolayers, and correspondingly the preparation process is technically difficult [5].
