MFM measurements of texture induced spatial variation in switching fields

We have developed a method for mapping the microscopic spatial variation of switching fields using a magnetic force microscope (MFM). By observing the changes in the MFM images as fields are applied to the sample, we identify the size. location and switching field of magnetic clusters in the sample. We apply this method to samples with different substrate textures to identify the effect of texture on the switching behavior.
