Measurement of selected parameters of special vehicle longitudinal and lateral dynamics with GPS systems

Measuring apparatus used for experimental studies are installed in different available locations on the vehicle which are generally far-removed from its mass center. Thus, there is the emerging problem of reduction of values measured at signal generating points because many graphical characteristics of movements are prepared as a function of lateral acceleration of these points. This problem also relates to the measurements taken with the apparatus used in satellite navigation. The problem of reduction of kinematical values measured during the testing of longitudinal and lateral dynamics of the vehicle is presented and analyzed in this paper with the examples of specific tests in which the authors used the VBox3i set working in the GPS-GLONAS system. A Steady State Circular test, Severe Lane-Change Maneuver and modified Braking on the Turn test were taken into consideration. These tests were conducted with long heavy special automobile. The simple flat model and model with freedom to roll with suitable kinematics theory were applied in data processing. The authors conducted the comparative analysis of results obtained in the tests of given vehicle to enable correct handling of the measuring data.
