Back to basics-troubleshooting a synchronous motor issue in a cement plant

A case study detailing some of the challenges, trials and tribulations when troubleshooting a problem with a 2250 HP synchronous mill motor in a cement plant. The first sign of a problem came after the replacement of the mill motor starter and synchronous starter. The plant was having operational issues with the motor reaching synchronous speed and dropping out before synchronizing. This paper will detail the methodology and effort to resolve this problem.
