The analysis of influence of stator slot opening on multipole axial flux motor characteristics

The paper presents an analysis of an influence of a stator air-gap zone on properties of a multi-pole axial flux motor with permanent magnets. A stator slot opening does not only have an influence on electrical parameters. Likewise, technological considerations which prefer larger slot opening are important. A stator without pole shoes is the most optimal solution from the technological point of view. However, it has a negative impact on electric parameters of the machine. Based on the numerical calculations and laboratory tests, the influence of air-gap zone modification on the parameters of a multi-pole axial flux motor was shown.
