Increase in Maximum Power of a-Si, c-Si and GaAs.76P.24 Solar Cells Under Low Concentration

In this work, three types of solar cells, a-Si PIN, c-Si and GaAs

, are measured under low solar concentration of up to 52 suns using a plano-convex lens. The effect of solar concentration on the different performance parameters (J
_sc
, V
_oc
, maximum power, FF and efficiency) of each cell is studied. The J
_sc
increases by ~30-50X for all cells when measured at 52 suns. In addition the maximum power increases by a factor of 32x for a-Si cell, 18.4x for c-Si cell and 23x for GaAs
_.76
P
_.24
cell.
