Inverted P-shaped UWB antenna with dual/tri-band-notch characteristics

A miniaturized tri-band-notch ultrawideband (UWB) antenna is presented. The antenna element consists of a P-shaped patch with a truncated ground plane. The band-notch function is achieved by introducing three distinct L-shaped slots in the main radiator. Three notches are achieved for frequency bands, i.e., WiMAX (3.1-3.8), WLAN (5.5-6.1 GHz), and downlink X-band (7.25-7.75 GHz). The antenna system is realized on Rogers Duroid 5880 having compact dimensions of 20 × 20 mm

. Moreover, the simulated as well as measured results are in good agreement.
