Study and implementation of a static compensator (STATCOM) using direct power control strategy

A high-performance electrical grid network requires rigorous control of its characteristic quantities in steady state and transient conditions. A static compensator (STATCOM) is a control system used to adjust the voltage of a busbar where it is connected; in addition, it controls the transit of active power by the injection or the absorption of the reactive power. In this paper, we presented the so-called DPC method for the STATCOM control as well as the simulation results on the Matlab-simulink software and the practical results with the dSpace DS 1104 control board experimental.
