A novel color image encryption scheme based on cross swapping strategy and chaotic maps

In this paper, multimodal tent map and cross swapping based strategy between the three base color components are applied to design a color image encryption scheme. In the confusion operation, a swapping operation between higher bit planes and lower bit planes is employed to replace the traditional confusion operations. The multimodal skew tent map is used to enhance the security and diffusion effects. The security and performance of the proposed image encryption scheme have been analyzed thoroughly, including statistical analysis, key sensitivity analysis, key space analysis, differential analysis, etc. All the experimental results confirm the security and robustness of the proposed image encryption scheme.
