Abstract:
This paper presents an innovative method of generating electricity from the energy possessed by wind by virtue of its motion. The prototype is developed by insulating each fin from other fins and rest of the structure and by adding the assembly needed to provide magnetic flux and to collect generated current in the existing roof top ventilator. These changes are done on the most commercially used and readily available roof top ventilator. This paper mainly deals with the design and construction of the model. The concept resembles with four pole DC generator except, in the proposed model rotor is outside and stator is inside unlike the DC generator. Another noteworthy point about this model is that fins of ventilator fan are used as conductors forming rotor part and electromagnets are placed on additional stationary frame forming stator part. This modified system managed to get output around 1-2 volts. Implementation of such models, connected in series and parallel, is preferred to get sufficient output to charge a battery so that stored energy can be used for lighting purposes. Ventilation and lighting, both purposes are served by this model simultaneously which is important for improving working conditions of employees in the factory. Such eco-friendly models are recommended for upcoming factories in order to mitigate the effects of vitiated atmosphere because of lack of ventilation and lighting.
