Shock behaviour of gyroscope based on gas thermal expansion

The paper presents a gyroscope based on thermal expansion of a fluid submitted to large amplitude shocks. The operating principle of the device is based on the deviation by the Coriolis force of a laminar gas jet. This one is generated by alternating heat generation in two opposite microheaters. Two temperature detectors are placed symmetrically with respect to the flow axis. The difference of temperature between these detectors is proportional to the rotational velocity applied to the device. The robustness of the device allows to measure rotational velocities when the device is loaded under shocks of more than 10,000 g and for several hundred microseconds.
