An expeditious synthesis of thinned planar antenna array by exploitation of multi-objective optimization technique

In this paper, we propose a multi-objective optimization technique to synthesize uniformly excited thinned planar antenna (UE-TPA) array with optimum peak side lobe level (PSLL), better average side lobe level (ASLL), narrowest possible half power beam width (HPBW) and higher directivity or gain. A modified binary coded genetic algorithm (MBC-GA) is employed to determine the best suitable combination of `ON' and `OFF' elements in an UE-TPA array corresponding to ameliorated aforesaid design parameters. To corroborate the capability of proposed method, a 10×20-element UE-TPA array is numerically analysed. Results obtained through the proposed approach are compared with those of previously published which shows that present method outmatches the methods available in literature.
