Antenna gain in a millimetre-wave multipath environment

Millimeter waves (mm-waves) are likely to use directive antenna at user terminal. We show that when operating in multipath environments, the effective antenna gain is reduced. Measurements in a cluttered indoor environment using a 9.6 dBi horn antenna show an effective gain of 5.7 dBi, a loss of 3.87 dB. This will have implication in link budget planning when operating in multipath environment.
