Simultaneous placement and sizing of multi-DG units in distribution system using IGSA

The presence of Distributed Generation (DG) units in distribution system can raise several operational and planning challenges. Among these issues electrical power losses and voltage variations are particularly significant. Majority of the studies have addressed these issues by allocating only single type of DG; however, there are few studies that have considered multiple DG types. This paper proposes an Improved Gravitational Search Algorithm (IGSA) based solution for optimum placement and sizing of all four types of DG units simultaneously. The comparison of the result with recent approaches in literature demonstrates that proposed approach is improved one and hence, shows potential of the approach.
