Centralized monitoring of computer networks using Zenoss open source platform

Efficient monitoring and administration of computer networks is based on the use of timely information about the status of network devices and services. Considering the continuous development of information and communication technology and integration of different communication services, it is necessary to provide centralized monitoring of heterogeneous network environment. In this paper we analyzed the basic requirements for network monitoring and possibility of using the Zenoss Core open source platform for the implementation of centralized monitoring of required parameters. It has been shown that the Zenoss platform enables efficient monitoring and visualization of network device parameters using ICMP, SNMP and syslog protocols. Additionally, by using appropriate manipulation and representation of data, it is possible to satisfy specific requirements of network monitoring and management.
