Simple boost control of a new high voltage gain Z-source inverter

In this paper, a new topology for impedance source (Z-source) inverter is proposed. The proposed topology does not uses capacitors which results in lower losses and cost in comparison with the conventional transformer-based inverter. Moreover, due to having no capacitor in this topology there isn't any problem with voltage stress across capacitors which makes this inverter suitable. In the proposed inverter, shoot-through duty cycle can be increased — amplified by increasing the turns ratio of the transformer. This shoot-through duty cycle can be changed between 0 and 1. So, the control of the proposed inverter is simple. A comparison between the proposed inverter and the conventional Z-source inverters is presented. Simple boost control strategy is applied to this topology. Finally, simulation results have been provided.
