Design and charcterization of bio-MEMS flow cell sensor for lab-on-chip mobile application

This paper comprises designing and simulation of flow cell based biosensors those are extensively used for Lab-on-chip application. These chips may be integrated with smart phone for transmission of sensor data in order to monitor human health. The designed modelled is analyzed to investigate various parameters influencing the performance of the flow cell based biosensor. FEM based modeling and time domain simulation of the device with various level of concentration of the analyte in the flow cell biosensor integrated with wedge micro-pillars is carried out. The wedge shape micro-pillar provides maximum surface interaction of the analyte with active surface and also it offers minimum friction to the flow as observed from the results. The increased levels of concentration are characterized by observing performance parameter of designed model. The device has potential application bio sensing integrated to smart phone for health monitoring.
