Fabrication and characterization of colloidal quantum dots based photodetectors

Colloidal Quantum Dots (CQDs) are widely used for low-cost, large-area fabrication of thin film devices. The absorption band of the CQDs can be tuned over a wide spectral range by simply varying the particle size or the composition of the CQDs. The sizes of the CQDs also affect the emission spectrum measured by photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The charge transport and trap properties of the CQDs can be controlled by involving the shell or intermediate shell in between the QDs. Due to larger surface to volume ratio of QDs over the bulk materials, they are preferred for various sensing applications over the bulk semiconductors. These properties of CQDs can be explored for developing spectrum selective photodetectors and Self-Powered photodetectors.
