Soft computation for conical tank level control

The control of liquid level plays a crucial role in many process industries like food manufacturing, petroleum, etc. The nonlinearity due to the continually varying area of cross section of the liquid level makes the level control of the toughest task. The primary objective is to develop suitable controlling mechanisms to sustain the desired level of the system. In this paper, an Adaptive PID controller is designed and compared with conventional PID controller ie, designed using IMC based tuning method.
