Current-fed isolated LCC-T resonant converter with ZVS and improved transformer utilization

Resonant converters with capacitive output filters are quite popular for their higher voltage gain and compact designs. But majority of these converters underutilizing the transformer as they are subjected to discontinuous currents, whose ripples produce huge core losses and aggravates the temperature of the transformer. Further, higher stress on resonant components and higher conduction losses in switches also limits the efficiency. Also, improper modelling of the rectifier is also a drawback. This paper proposes a current fed isolated LCC-T resonant DC/DC converter with capacitive output filter, aims at improving efficiency of the converter by operating all switches in ZVS mode, and all diodes in ZCS mode, transformer with continuous current and minimum stress on resonant tank components. This paper also adopts proper modelling of the converter for analysis. This theory is supported with simulation results and experimental results are included in the final version.
