A novel two open terminals slot antenna for ultra wideband wireless communication applications

In this paper, a miniaturized two open terminals slot antenna is proposed to be used in the applications of ultra-wideband (UWB). The proposed antenna is evolved from two rectangular slots with an open terminal from one end and these slots are merged from the other end to form one slot with asymmetrical T-shape. This slot is printed on the lower side of a dielectric substrate which represents the ground plane, and microstrip line on the upper side of it. To include the entire bandwidth specified for desired applications, to enhance the coupling between the microstrip feed line and T-slot, a tapered end rectangular tuning stub is used. To improve the performance of the proposed antenna many techniques are used such as; adjusting the position of the tuning stub according to the microstrip feed line, and its dimensions are also adjusted, adjusting the position of microstrip feed line with respect to the ground plane. In annexation, the proposed antenna depicts a small size of 28mm×27mm; therefore, it becomes an exceptional nominated for portable application. The radiation characteristics of this antenna such as impedance bandwidth, gain, the pattern of radiation are tested and found be accepted over the whole operating frequencies. A good time domain characteristics are shown by this antenna, where it has a linear phase over the required band, which is giving a received signal with less distortion. The simulation of this antenna is done by HFSS software.
