RF immunity test of CAN FD Transceivers during Data-Frame Communication

Designing electronic devices in consideration of EMC is very important, especially in the case of using the devices in cars. Because of this, standards for evaluating the EMC of bus transceivers equipped in cars are focused on. The authors are currently researching CAN FD transceivers and carried out an RF immunity test by using the DPI method to investigate the reason for CAN FD communication errors. In a test on the CAN bus, the maximum variation in differential voltage was 1 V, although the common mode voltage on the CAN bus was 40 V. Therefore, the CAN FD could communicate with the other one. In a test on power-supply terminals, an error was observed just after the change in bitrate in the middle of a CAN FD data-frame. It is shown that the short bit time was the reason for the error.
