Developing laser machine tools-national programs in Japan, Germany and US development of high-power all-solid-state lasers in Japanese MITI project

Summary form only given, as follows. In 1997, MITI's R&D project "Advanced photon processing and measurement technologies" was started. Recently in the project, simple-structure, all-solid-state lasers of both rod type and slab type with over 3 kW output power were developed.
