Time-Division Multiplexed Vector Signal Synthesizer Based on Continuous PTS

In this letter, time-division multiplexed (TDM) vector signal synthesizer is proposed and experimentally demonstrated, based on continuous photonic time-stretch (PTS). Frequency up-conversion of composited vector signals is achieved by time-domain compressing and interleaving of two wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) channels when the stretch factor of PTS is less than 1. The impact of WDM channel isolation on the synthesized signal is analytically derived, its influence on error vector magnitude (EVM) of the demodulated vector signal is numerically simulated. The experiment demonstrates two completely-continuous vector signals are TDM synthesized and the carrier frequencies are multiplied by 3.4. The result of demodulated EVM of the synthesized signal confirms the effectiveness of proposed system.
