The shape effect on the optical properties of metallic nanoparticles

This work is devoted to the examined the shape effect of noble metal nanoparticles on the surface plasmon resonance peaks positions of the spectral scale. In this paper, the simulations of optical properties of noble metal nanoparticles (Au, Ag, Pt) with different geometrical shapes were presented. The calculations of nanoparticles extinction, scattering and absorption coefficient were carried out using the discrete dipole approximation method for their spherical, spheroidal (oblate and prolate), decahedral and prismatic shapes. In this work, the main features in the optical spectra depending of the nanoparticles geometry have been investigated.
