Application Migration Architecture for Cross Clouds Analysis on the Strategies Methods and Frameworks

Application migration to cross clouds is very challenging and there is no 'one size fits all' kind of migration solution. Various frameworks and methods have been developed and adopted to tackle different types of application migration scenarios. Work continues to happen on various fronts, including open source. This paper looks into prominent cloud application migration strategies and presents a comparison of methods and frameworks available in the industry. Unlike overall cloud migration, which has been discussed in numerous papers, this paper focuses specifically on dealing with the application migration aspects. It also adds pointers on application migration checklists and best practices. Finally, it concludes with some open areas for further research in cross-cloud application portability and the impact of heterogeneous clouds on the same.
