Using Unity3D to simulate VHF sailor 3520

At present, due to the rapid development of information technology, the application of technology for simulation of equipment in the navigation has had many changes. In previous studies of simulations which have only been performed on two-dimensional (2D) system's, as a result there is a lack of realism and interactivity. In this article, the authors used relatively common software for designing the game currently, named Unity3D. The VHF Sailor 3520 is uses 3ds Max to conduct model object into three-dimension (3D) models and then used Unity3D to realize the interaction. We used User Interface (UI) to design VHF's screen and used RGB to draw the screen's color, which controls the VHF in the three-dimension space by geometric transformation: rotation, translation and scaling. The simulation equipment can be published on multiple-platforms, such as windows, iOS, Web player and other smart devices. The result of this article will allow a new way of three-dimensional (3D) simulation for training crews and students majoring in navigation.
