A method for detecting power lines in UAV aerial images

In this paper, we propose a new approach for power line detection from the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) aerial images. It is difficult to quickly and accurately detect the power line from aerial images, due to the weakness in power line target and complex natural background. An improved Randomized Hough Transform(RHT), Area Divide Randomized Hough Transform(ADRHT), was developed to detect power lines from aerial image. Comparing to Line Segment Detector(LSD) algorithm and RHT algorithm, our approach is validated to be fast, efficient to complex environments by the experimental results.
