Control of five-phase PMSM for electric vehicle application

The increasing need of reliability and high efficiency of the electric vehicles makes the multi-phase electric machines very attractive and highly recommended in transport applications. This paper investigates the vector control strategy of multi-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine under different drive cycles. Thus, the dynamic model of the electric vehicle is presented and a variable speed control is applied under variable load conditions. The simulations are carried out under MATLAB© \ Simulink © environment and the obtained results are presented and discussed.
