Abstract:
This paper presents a comparative study between three control technics for photovoltaic PV voltage regulation. A current fed CF synchronous buck converter was used as power stage interfaced to the photovoltaic generator PVG in order to charge a battery connected to its output terminals. The PV voltage regulation was achieved using linear classic control technics and using a constant frequency sliding mode control CFCMS technic. The classic linear methods are simulated with a PID controller designed using poles placement technic and with a PI controller designed using the K-factor methodology. For the SMC, a new sliding surface was proposed. The different methods were detailed with all design steps serving as a tutorial for photovoltaic voltage control. These technics were simulated and tested using Matlab Simulink.
