A novel torque ripple reduction of switched reluctance motor based on DTC-SVM method

A Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) has several desirable features, including simple construction, high reliability, and low cost. However, it suffers from large torque ripple which can cause undesirable acoustic noise and vibration. In addition, highly non-uniform torque output and magnetization characteristics lead to complication of the control system. In this paper, a novel torque control method for a 3-phase 6/4 SRM based on direct torque control through space vector modulation (DTC-SVM) is proposed. According to desired changes in the torque and flux of motor, by using fuzzy logic control (FLC) suitable voltage vector with certain amplitude and phase is calculated. Through SVM technique, calculated voltage vector is applied to the SRM winding. Simulation results show the capability of the proposed control method. Reduction of the motor torque ripple and stator flux ripple both with fast dynamic response, reduction of high-frequency harmonics of the input current and consequently the electromagnetic inference (EMI) are noticeable advantages of the proposed controller.
