Power management in a ST integrated medium voltage grid

High penetration of distributed generation (DG) sources result in bidirectional power flow and conventional power transformer (CPT) based microgrid experiences lack of controllability features in terms of real and reactive power flow between multiple feeders. This, in turn leads to voltage rise or fall depending upon different DG operating scenarios. This paper focus on the performance improvement in a smart transformer (ST) based medium voltage (MV) microgrid with DG connected multiple feeders. The ST capability for integrating battery energy storage system (BESS) is utilized to control the power flow in a multi-feeder distribution system.
