Design and implementation of symmetric and asymmetric structure for multilevel inverter

In this study, a modified structure for cascaded multilevel inverter is presented. The proposed topology can be operate in both symmetrical and asymmetrical manner. The proposed multilevel inverter composed of cascaded basic module with H-bridge. The proposed concept is compared with conventional and some recent multilevel inverter topologies in terms of required number of power electronics switches. Carrier based sinusoidal pulse width modulation control method is developed to achieve switching signals. The performance and operation of proposed inverter is verified through simulation study through MATLAB/Simulink and validated experimentally for 11-level and 15-level inverter.
