The Future Is Present in California: Delivering on the Promise of Fuel Cell-Powered Transportation

For years, hydrogen fuel and fuelcell electric vehicles (FCEVs) have been consistently referred to as "five years away from commercialization," even among proponents of vehicles powered by alternatives to conventional gasoline. Year after year, commercialization seemed just out of reach. Critical FC technology advancements took longer than expected; hydrogen storage, compression, and dispensing standards needed more fine-tuning; and favorable business opportunities for fueling infrastructure came a bit slower. Today, in California, that is no longer the case.
