Switching parameters for maximum torque per ampere for 6/4 switched reluctance motor

This paper presents a different study to determine the optimum switching parameters for maximum torque per ampere of 6/4 3-phase switched reluctance motor (SRM). A 2-dimension finite element (FE) numerical solution is used to predict the magnetic characteristics of the motor. A look-up table model for the motor is built. The performance of the motor at different turn on angles and pulses width is examined. Detailed simulation of the proposed model using Matlab-Simulink is carried out. Results of current, torque, torque per ampere and efficiency at different speeds are predicated and compared. Optimum turn on angle and pulse width is obtained for different conditions.
