Numerical and experimental assessment for milling of wheat grains separation using belt-type separators

The paper introduces a novel approach to assess the utilization of belt-type corona-electrostatic separator in sorting of tiny wheat milled particles. The numerical analysis of the electric field and the computation of the charge carried by spherical particles in contact with belt-type corona-electrostatic separators is employed using charge simulation method coupled with genetic algorithm (CSM/GA). The differential method is applied for the trajectories computation of different spherical conducting particles in the air, after detachment. The influence of the applied voltage and the separator dimension effects on the particle trajectories is enabled. An experimental set up is prepared to measure the detachment voltages of wheat milled particles and the potential decay of different insulated and conducting particles.
