A novel study on color image denoising and comparison of various state-of-the-art methods

We briefly discuss the fundamental of color space and compare some state-of-the-art color image denoising methods in presence of Gaussian noise. Specifically, we discuss three leading color image denoising techniques such as C-BM3D, OWT SURE-LET, LPG-PCA and describe their performance in terms of PSNR. We conduct several experiments, to recognize the advantages and disadvantages of these state-of-the-art color image denoising methods. It is observed from the comparison that C-BM3D achieves better performance in terms of PSNR at a reasonable computational complexity. The comprehensive study in this paper will provide a good reference for new research in color image denoising.
