Research on TOC monitoring technology of ultraviolet absorption

Total organic carbon (TOC) is the sum of organic matter contained in the water, and the detection of TOC can be more comprehensive assessment of the organic matter pollution degree of the water. TOC traditional detection techniques are based on chemical oxidation method, whose detection process not only is cumbersome, complex, time-consuming, but also causes the loss of chemical reagents and secondary pollution. And the oxidation detection of CO2 gas is indirectly calculating the content of total organic carbon, which is difficult to achieve real-time, on-line monitoring. In this paper, ultraviolet absorption TOC detection technology, which uses ultraviolet light as a detection light source, and uses green light as a compensation light source, is adopted to achieve the measurement of TOC concentration. The test results show that the response time of the system is less than 30s, the absolute error is less than 3%FS, and the self compensation effect of turbidity, the repeatability and linearity are all good, which meet the technical requirements of TOC online monitoring.
