Room temperature strong coupling of monolayer WS2 with gold nanoantennae

Realizing strong plasmon-exciton coupling is essential for nonlinear optics in single photon level and applications in quantum information. The transmission-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years since it turns to a direct band gap material at monolayer level and can demonstrate strong interaction with light at room temperature. Here, we study strong light-matter interaction in monolayer WS
2
with gold disk and dimer nanoantennae both numerically and experimentally. By changing the geometry of nanoantenna arrays, we can approach strong coupling regime and the coupling strength can be flexibly tuned, where an anti-crossing behavior is observed. The vacuum Rabi splitting of disk nanoantenna is 88meV and a lager Rabi splitting 118 meV for dimer structure is obtained.
