Compact dual-band hexadecagon circular patch antenna with DGS for Ku band applications

The design of hexadecagon circular patch antenna for dual band operation is presented in this paper The proposed antenna operates at two resonating frequencies 13.65 GHz, 15.19 GHz with return loss of −44.88 dB, −55.83 dB, and gain 5.89 dBi, 7.22 dBi respectively. An impedance bandwidth of 911 MHz (13.04–13.95 GHz) and 1170 MHz (14.43–15.6 GHz) is observed for dual-bands respectively The defected ground structure (DGS) is considered for enhancement of gain. The proposed antenna VSWR is less than 2 for dual bands and it is suitable for Ku band at satellite communication.
