Beam wander of multi-Gaussian schell-model hermite-Gaussian beam in atmospheric turbulence

Based on the extended Huygens-Fresnel principle and effective beam width, an analytical formula for beam wander of the multi-Gaussian Schell-model Hermite-Gaussian (MGSMHG) beam through turbulent atmosphere is derived. Applying analytical derivations, the beam wander of the MGSMHG beam and Gaussian Schell-model Hermite-Gaussian (GSMHG) beam are comparably studied. The results show that, under the same condition, the beam wander of the MGSMHG beam is smaller than the GSMHG beam, which indicates that the MGSMHG beam has an advantage of mitigating turbulent atmosphere disturbed. The results will be useful for frees pace optical (FSO) communications.
