Italian Futurism holds a few lessons for future-making. The founders and proponents of it, who spoke of embracing technology, actually did embrace new media technologies to get their message out. They also transgressed traditional boundaries between the arts, quite effectively. As we will see, Futurism in Italy was not without its problems. But these particular methods of future-making were not, in my view, inherently bound to the negative directions that Futurism took.
