Simulation of ZVS buck converter for charging application using PSIM simulator

This paper presents the design and simulation of an integrated Zero-Voltage-Switching DC-DC Buck Converter on high switching operating frequency for battery charging application. The 12 Volts input supply is utilized to step down the voltage level to 4.8 Volts for maximum output load current of 1.5 ampere by selecting the switching frequency of 50 MHz's. The switching losses of simple converter and Zero Voltage Switching converter are compared using PSIM 10.1.2 simulation tool and find the comparatively less losses than conventional converter, which will define the effectiveness of resonant converter even in small power applications.
