An efficient and simple embedded system of fungus detection system

Fungus is dangerous for human health, food items and archives. But it is also essentially fundamental in our ecosys tem as it is one of the primary decomposers. The main objective of this research is to develop a novel automated embedded system for fungus detection. It is specifically designed to automatically collect a desired amount of spores from the air and take them under microscopic camera using a handling system. Then, the camera takes different images of air samples using different light sources one-by-one and successfully detects the fungus spores. An Atmel SAM4S microcontroller was preferred on the basis of cost-effectiveness and speed for this task. Moreover, a graphical user interface(GUI) was also developed in MATLAB, which controls the whole system. For evaluation purposes, we have used precision and recall and 88% of the fungus spores were successfully classified as fungus spores. The developed embedded system performs all the important functions of the fungus detection system automatically and efficiently.
