Shielding Current Analysis in High-Temperature Superconducting Film and Its Application

An acceleration performance of a pellet injection system by using a superconducting linear acceleration (SLA) has been investigated numerically. To this end, a numerical code of an equivalent circuit model has been developed for analyzing the shielding current density in a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) film. By using the code, the pellet injection system of the SLA has been reproduced numerically. The results of the computations show that as the initial position approaches the origin, the acceleration performance improves. In addition, the velocity increases with the coil current. As a result, the coil current is preferably as large as possible for the acceleration of the HTS film. Consequently, accelerating for 2 s or more, the pellet injection system using the SLA has a speed similar to a pneumatic pellet injection and a centrifuge pellet injection.
